The Shun Alton Brown Angled Knives are simply the Shun Classic knives with the handles angled to 10 degrees.  They still feature the VG-10 blade, and the d-shaped pakka wood handle.  The main difference besides the angled handle is the fact that the blade bares Alton Brown's likeness in a cartoon like figure.

The VG-10 blade is clad with 16 layers of high carbon steel on each side for a total of 33 layers.  This gives it a unique look similar to Damascus steel, but without its tendency to rust.

The handle is made from ebony colored Pakkawood, and waterproof resin veneers, giving the knife a very traditional feel.  The D-shaped handle design aids with grip and prevents the knife from turning during use.  The angled handle may also help with this.

Since these knives are styled for Japanese and Asian users they're recommended only for those with smaller hands.  You may also want to note that they are hand specific with their D-shaped handle design.

Actual Customer Feedback:

"...I love Alton Brown, but that goofy looking cartoon face stamped onto these blades really clashes with the class and elegance of the rest of the design - in my eyes and my honest opinion..."

"The only thing he didn't like was Alton's head printed on the side of the knife... but... I said if it was your knife, you'd probably want your head printed on it too. :)

Shun knives are amazing - blazingly sharp, well-made, and durable."

"Outstanding knife! Great feel in the hand and, surprisingly, the angle of the blade (Alton Brown's design) seems to make slicing much easier."

Our Research on Shun's Alton Brown Classic Cutlery Suggests:

These are another great set of knives from Shun.  The downside appears to be Alton Brown's Cartoonish character printed on the side of the knives.  However one consumer reported that it had been taken off, and another reported that you can order the knives without his face.  Be sure to talk to the store you purchase them from before you buy so you can get just what you want.

The other advice I'd give you is to try before you buy or only buy one at a time to make sure that the angled handle suites you.  Knives are really all about comfort and you don't want to dread cutting something because of an awkward handle.
